Grandma’s Basic Egg Salad

Grandma kept it simple. Nothing fancy. But you can be sure the bowl was always empty at the end of the party. It only has 5 ingredients, but I get lots of requests for the recipe, so here it is!
So, here’s what you will need
EggSalad1(Web)(RH)1 Dozen large Eggs, hard boiled and peeled
2 Tbsp of White Vinegar (needs to be white vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar is great for a lot of things, but not this recipe)
6 Tbsp of Mayonnaise (yes, mayo, miracle whip will not work for this recipe)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper ( I prefer course ground, but any black pepper will do the trick)

You will also need an egg slicer. I have added the link to the one I use at the bottom of this page. I like it because it has all the crosscut wires as well as the straight cut ones, so one pass and the work is done.
Don’t forget a bowl big enough to mix in and a mixing spoon.

EggSalad2(Web)(RH) Directions:
Start by slicing all of the eggs into your bowl. Add the white vinegar and give a quick stir. This allows the vinegar to react with the yolks. It’s surprising, but it’s an important step.
Next, add the Mayo and stir again.
Once those three ingredients are combined well, add the salt and pepper and stir again.
It is best if you allow it to set in the fridge for an hour before serving.
Then…oh wait, that’s it, it was that simple…now just enjoy it!
